Uploadable Guild Capes
Given the expaning number of guilds and those who aren't exactly satisfyed with 12 other guilds pretty much haveing their cape why not allow Uploadable images for the designs?
Appart from the technical issues and perhaps some profanity/indencntcy problems I think it would be a good idea to allow that much more to a guilds ability to stand apart.

Cool idea I would like to see as well, but unfortunately this will never happen for the reasons you stated.

ANet should upload some more cape designs too, and maybe hold a contest for people to design and send in their cape emblems, the best ones would get to be uploaded for use, and the winners could get a rune/upgrade of their choice or something.

All the added ideas are interesting.
Though allowing a person to choose their name also runs the risk of profanity. Though I suppose theres less harm in someone running around with the name Hooty McBoobs and someone running around with full frontal on their cape.
Making it a rather difficult to attain reward would probably help with this. Less occournces that way and making it prohibitive to piss away both your privilage and possible other things.
And Gerbil, great minds think alike.

I think this idea would have some serious interest for ANET, if they could institute some some kind of validation system, where they email you once your imagery has been denied or approved. Many web sites that host art and whatnot do this to great affect. It cuts the penis-obsessed right out of the equation. You get approved, you have a nice cape. You do not get approved, use the defaults.
Kinda sounds cool

The approval will not be too big a problem. After an initial rush, it should be fairly lax.
The hard part is loading these custom images. HALO2 did not allow custom images due to the resources involved. EVERYONE that comes in contact with you would have to download that image. And, if there are a lot of guilds w/ a custom image, that's a lot of files and space.
The same is true with Guild Wars. ANet runs off those cape designs because those are what they have loaded onto their servers. I personally don't think this idea is logically possible.

Perhaps file size restrictions? psi restrictions? Sevear enough that the designs would have to remain rather simplistic.

not if a template was added to a cape, but as long as a guild was not disbanded, the cape could not be used. If a guild disbanded, then it would be first come, first serve.
it was in the registars shop thing, it would be downloaded already

Can guilds submit custom emblems?
Sadly I dont see this happening anytime soon, its a great idea but the link above explains why anet wont do it. Thankfully, they also explain what they DO do or at least....plan to do.
